Village Council

Council chambers host many meetings and activities throughout the year but none more informative and important than the Council meetings themselves. They are open to the public and a great place to learn about what is happening in Reminderville. Meetings are held on the second and fourth Tuesdays of the month at 8pm. During June, July, August and December it meets only on the second Tuesday.

The duties and responsibilities of the Finance Committee shall include, but not be limited to, review of invoices... to provide work sessions for budget preparation... to recommend fiscal policy... and to perform JEDD property tax abatement functions.

Civil Service Commission
Function:  Per Charter: The Commission shall make, present, prescribe and enforce rules for the appointment, promotion, transfer, lay-off, reinstatement, suspension and removalof employees in the classified service and such other rules as may be necessary and proper for the enforcement of the merit system and for the procedures of the Commission. The Civil Service Commission shall determine the practicality of competitive exams for any non-elected office or job classification in the service of the Municipality. The Commission shall keep a record of its proceedings, which shall be open to public inspection. The effective date of the Civil Service rules will be twelve (12) months after the effective date of this Charter.

Human Resources Committee
Function: per Codified Ordinance
     It shall be the duty and responsibility of the Human Resources-Insurance Committee to establish and maintain Village personnel policies and procedures, employee compensation and benefits programs, and implement and maintain all other insurance policies as set forth or required by the Village of Reminderville to ensure the health, safety and general welfare of the Village and its employees.

Planning and Zoning Committee
Function: per Codified Ordinance
The Planning and Zoning Commission may, in individual cases, after public notice, and to such persons as it deems immediately affected, and after hearing in accordance with such notices, and subject to such conditions and safeguards as it may establish, permit exceptions to and variations from the district regulation established by this Zoning Ordinance as follows...
A. Permit the extension of building or use into a more restricted district immediately adjacent thereto, but not more than fifty feet beyond the boundary line of the district in which such building or use is authorized.
B. Permit the substitution or extension of a nonconforming use or building upon a lot occupied by such use or building at the time of the passage of this Zoning Ordinance.
C. Permit in a district any use deemed by the Commission to be in general keeping with the uses authorized in such district.
D. Grant temporary and conditional permits, revocable at any time by the Commission and in no case for more than two year periods, for the buildings that do not conform to the regulations herein prescribed relative to the uses permitted in the district in which they are located.      
E. Permit the location in any district of any use provided such use in such location will not in the judgement of the Commission substantially and permanently injure the use of neighboring property, provided the petitioner files the consents, duly acknowledged, of the owners of eighty percent of the area of the land deemed by the Commission to be immediately affected by the proposed use, which area shall in no case extend less than 200 feet in any direction from the boundaries of the lot on which such proposed use ins to be located.
F. The Planning and Zoning Commission shall adopt such rules as it deems proper for its meeting, and for exercising its powers and duties and carrying into effect the provisions of this section.

Community Development Committee
Function: per Codified Ordinance
The duties and responsibilities of the Community Development Committee shall be as follows-
a. To make recommendations to the Engineer or a representative from the Engineers office as to projects needing to be addressed within the Village.  The Engineer shall prepare bid specifications for all such projects.  The Committee shall review all bids and make recommendations to Council as to which projects are feasible during any fiscal year.
b. To meet on a timely basis to provide the Village Fiscal Officer with information concerning bid specifications for refuse hauling and to request advertisement of such bid specifications.  The Committee shall review such bids and make recommendations to Council for acceptance and approval.
c. To assume and perform the duties and responsibilities of the former Cable, Recreation, Storm Water, Utilities and Real Estate Committees.
d. The Committee shall further oversee projects under its jurisdiction required by the Village to ensure the health, safety and general welfare of the Village and its residents.

Records Commission
Function: per Codified Ordinance
The functions of the Commission shall be to provide rules for retention and disposal of records of the Village and to review applications for one time records disposal and schedule of records retention and disposition submitted by Village offices.  Records may be disposed of by the Commission pursuant to the procedure outlined in this section.  The Commission may at any time review any schedule it has previously approved, and for good cause shown may revise that schedule.

Zoning Board of Appeals

1. The Planning and Zoning Commission shall hear and determine all appeals from the refusal of the Building Inspector, because of any thing contained in this Zoning Ordinance, to issue building permits.   2. The Planning and Zoning Commission shall hear and determine all appeals from any decision or action of the Building Inspector in the administration or enforcement of this Zoning Ordinance.

Volunteer Firefighters Dependents Fund Trustees
Function: per Codified Ordinance
The Board shall meet within five days after receipt of a claim to consider the claim and, if satisfied with the validity of the claim, shall make a determination of the amount due and to become due and shall certify its determination to the State Fire Marshal for payment. The certificate shall show the name and address of the Board, the name and address of each beneficiary, the amount to be received by or on behalf of each beneficiary, and the name and address of the person to whom the payments shall be made. The Board may make a continuing order for monthly payments to become due to a claimant for a period not exceeding three months from the date of the determination. The determination may be modified after issuance to reflect any changes in eligibility of the claimant. If the Board, after consideration of a claim, finds that the claimant has no right to benefits or that the claim is without merit, it shall deny the claim and issue notice of such action by delivering to the claimant a copy of the order, or by leaving a copy at the claimant
